How to get more traffic to your website

Getting more traffic to a website, particularly one that services a niche like the wellness industry, can take time and a little extra effort.

The first thing to consider is search engine optimization (SEO). I have loads of blog posts all about the power of SEO and steps you can take yourself to optimize your website. I also offer an SEO Masterclass each quarter.

If you have fully optimized your website, and you still aren’t getting traffic and leads, here are a few things you can do.

Link Building

Get links to your website from other organizations and directories with similar businesses as yours (this is called “link building”). Make sure you are getting a link to your website from every organization you join, event you sponsor, and article you write.

Add a variety of content

Add video and more copy to each Services page, and to your homepage. Search engines love valuable information served up in a variety of ways. Some of your potential clients may prefer receiving information via video or infographics over copy. Make it easy for all people to understand the value of your service and product.

Collaborate

Collaborate with other healers for events or speaking gigs to get in front of new people. Search on “speaker + [issue or challenge you help others overcome]” to find new opportunities.

Set up Google Search Console

Set up Google Search Console (GSC) for your website. GSC is a free tool from Google that can tell you when your website was last indexed and gives you the means to ask Google to prioritize indexing new pages on your website. It also tells you exactly which search terms people are using to find your website.

Bing also offers a similar tool (called Bing Webmaster Tools) which should also be set up for your website.

When I build an Alchemy website for a client, setting up these tools on Google and Bing are part of the website building process.

Get a visibility boost

It can take 6-8 weeks for a new website to get noticed and indexed by search engines. The actions I’ve suggest you take will give your website a visibility boost and help the search engines find your website.
